Navigating Life as a Parent of a College Student
Your child is starting their college experience—a time of growth, change, and new challenges not just for them, but for you as well. As they take steps toward independence, you may find yourself asking, What’s next for me? What's next for us?
"A Better Life" is Dr. Tom’s signature program, designed to help parents navigate this transition with clarity and purpose. Through small-group learning (4–10 participants) and personalized coaching, you’ll gain insights not only from Dr. Miles but also from other parents going through the same journey.
This program will help you explore your own values, strengths, and behaviors, while also equipping you with tools to support your student’s success without losing sight of your own personal growth. Using three professional assessments, expert coaching, and a unique purpose-developing technique, you'll walk away with:
-
A clearer sense of your own purpose as your role evolves
-
Strategies for guiding your student while respecting their independence
-
A renewed focus on your own goals, passions, and next steps in life
This isn’t just about parenting—it’s about rediscovering yourself. As your child embarks on their college experience, it’s time to invest in your own journey too.
For years, your focus has been on supporting, guiding, and prioritizing your child’s needs. Now, as they embark on their college experience, your role is shifting—and so is your sense of purpose.
NOTE: The cost of this program includes one or two parents. A second set of parents will need to register separately.
The package includes:
-
5 x 2-hour group virtual meetings (meetings are generally every 2 weeks)
-
2 x 50-minute one-on-ones with Dr. Tom after the conclusion of the group sessions. One-on-ones must be completed by 2 months after the last group session.
-
Email support is available but is not to take the place of a group session or a one-on-one meeting.

One of the most profound realizations I gained from Dr. Tom Miles and A Better Life program is to live in the moment, which has allowed me to listen and be more engaged professionally and personally. I've been able to apply many aspects of the program to help me effectively gauge when my leadership or guidance is needed. Thank you, Dr. Miles, for the impact you made on my personal and professional development.

I didn’t know what to expect by going through this program, but I found it to be very valuable. This was the first time I’d ever worked on a deeper level to better understand myself; who I am; what drives me. I think A Better Life pin-pointed exactly who I am and why I interact/engage with others the way I do.

I am thankful to Dr. Miles for taking the time to engage with others through A Better Life program. The experience provided an intentional time to look deeper into the layers of my personality and how that correlates to what I am called to do. I appreciated having the time to debrief with a coach as well as with peers as they also dived with greater depth into their calling/purpose. I value having time to reflect so this experience was meaningful and helpful in fine-tuning my purpose statement.

I really enjoyed A Better Life program with Dr. Miles. I used to compare my abilities to others and focused too much on my weaknesses. By going through this program, I was able to recognize the strengths that I already possess and was given the tools to utilize these strengths moving forward.
